A major goal of the Integrated Domestic Violence Court
is to act as a problem solving court for issues of domestic violence that
encompass civil restraint, child custody and visitation as well as
criminal punishment and to better address the needs of victims and
affected children by providing a single court environment for hearings
in both criminal and civil cases.
The court coordinates with service providers
for victims of domestic violence and works to move domestic violence
issues more effectively through the court system reducing court
appearance by victims and works to improve case outcome for those
involved in the justice system due to issues of domestic violence.
Court personnel and judges trained in domestic
violence issues serve the court to provide continuity for all court
users.
