Employers

(North Carolina General Statute § 9-32). No employer may discharge or demote any employee because the employee has been called for jury service, or is serving as a grand juror or petit juror Jurors should notify their employers immediately of their jury service.

Some employers pay employees while serving on jury duty, and some do not. You should inquire of your employer about their policy. The law does not require employers to pay employees in full while serving.

If proof of jury service is need for an employer, statements will be provided at the end of the day or at the end of the trial, if selected to serve on a trial.

If you failed to obtain or misplaced a verification of jury service statement for your employer, Email the jury coordinator and provide as much information as possible to assist locating your record. Search results will be provided to you by email response.

Requests for deferral from jury service or requests for verification of jury service should come from the individual summoned, not the employer.
