Failure to Appear for Jury Duty
Jurors who fail to appear as directed and to attend
until duly discharged are subject to a $50 fine (per N.C.G.S. § 9-13) as
well as potentially subject to the contempt powers of the Court.

of the date and time they are to appear before the District Court for
hearing on their failure to report for jury service.

reschedule the jury service to a later date by returning the Notice of
Failure To Appear along with a written request to be rescheduled. If a
juror has a legitimate request for excusal, it may also be submitted for
consideration. (Click on
‘Excused/Deferred from Jury Service’ to the left and read the policy for
being excused prior to making your request.)

the address indicated to the left. You will be notified by return mail
