Jury Service In Cumberland County

"Serving jury duty is absolutely a sacrifice; however, it is a sacrifice that determines the quality of justice for our citizens. By appearing for jury duty, you are helping your fellow citizens resolve court cases that seriously impact lives in this community."

The right to a trial by jury is one of our most important rights and is guaranteed by the United States and North Carolina Constitutions. By serving as a juror you are helping to preserve this freedom.

Jurors may be asked to make decisions that affect others' civil or property rights or to determine someone's right to freedom and sometimes life itself. Jurors' contributions are invaluable to the court and our democratic tradition.

As your Clerk of Court, I recognize your donation of valuable time to serve jury duty, and my office staff will be in the jury room to assist you through this process.

We periodically survey jurors to assist us with making improvements to the jury system. Such improvements have been our full time jury room clerk, additional parking, the juror call-in system  releasing jurors before reporting when service is not required, and  the one-day; one-trial jury service system releasing jurors after reporting when they are not being used.

If you are summoned for jury duty, it is important that you comply fully with the requirements on the summons.  When reporting, please bring your summons with you.

Court Personnel will NEVER call you and ask for Social Security or credit card numbers or other sensitive information. Do not provide such information to anyone claiming to be court personnel or law enforcement.
