Criminal Record Checks

(Criminal records are indexed by name only and no other identifying characteristics. The person obtaining the record should determine whether or not the name on the record check is the identity of the person you are searching.)

If you are doing a background check or needing information on charges on an individual name, you may either obtain that information from a Clerk of Court's office, or through several Internet companies that will sell pages of information to you. Each company has its own set charges.

Please note: If you are checking on an individual who has already been charged, convicted and sentenced to prison or probation, you may go the Department of Correction web site for more information.

If you are checking on an individual who has a current pending charge, you can obtain the court date and courtroom online, click District and Superior Court Calendars  and follow the instructions.

Internet Criminal Background Checks

A criminal background check from this office is only for charges in Cumberland County.  For record checks from other counties, you must contact the Clerk of Court’s Office in that county.  Statewide searches can be obtained from the above internet companies only.
