Guardian Ad Litem
criminal and civil matters along with judicial waivers are filed in this
neglect and dependent issues. Termination of Parental Rights,
Emancipation petitions, Voluntary Placement, Safe Surrender, and the
petitions to be removed from Responsible Person’s List.
Undisciplined and Delinquent issues. Violations of the criminal laws
including underage traffic violations.
Juvenile cases are monitored through the Family Court Office along with
the scheduling of private (attorney filed) Terminations of Parental
juvenile matters are confidential. Court files are NOT
available for public inspection. Staff cannot answer any questions or
divulge the existence of any juvenile matter or name.
Juvenile delinquent cases are handled by the Office of Juvenile Justice.
Abuse, neglect and dependent issues handled by
the Department of Social
Services Children Protective Services.
The Guardian At Litem Program
is a volunteer based program who works with the court with abused and
at least 6 years but less than 16 years of age that commits a crime or
infraction under State law, or under an ordinance of local government,
including violation of the motor vehicle laws.
juvenile at least 6 years but less than 16 years of age that is regularly
disobedient to and beyond the disciplinary control of the juvenile’s
parent, guardian or custodian.
juvenile at least 6 years but less than 16 years of age and is unlawfully
absent from school; or who is regularly disobedient to and beyond the
disciplinary control of the juvenile’s parent, guardian or custodian; or
has run away from home for a period of more than 24 hours.
who has not reached their 18th birthday and whose parent, guardian,
custodian, or caretaker inflicts or allows to be inflicted upon the
juvenile a serious physical injury by other than accidental means;
creates or allows to be created a substantial risk of serious physical
injury to the juvenile by other than accidental means; uses or allows to
be uses upon the juvenile cruel or grossly inappropriate procedures or
cruel or grossly inappropriate devices to modify behavior; commits,
permits, or encourages the commission of a violation to certain criminal
laws; creates or allows to be created serious emotional damage to the
juvenile; or encourages, directs or approves of delinquent acts involving
moral turpitude committed by the juvenile.

supervision or discipline from the juvenile’s parent guardian, custodian
or caretaker; or who has been abandoned; or who is not provided necessary
medical care; or who is not provided necessary remedial welfare; or who
has been placed for care or adoption in violation of law.
juvenile whose has not reached their 18th birthday and is in need of
assistance or placement because the juvenile has no parent, guardian, or
custodian responsible for the juvenile’s care or supervision or whose
parent, guardian, or custodian is unable to provide for the care or
supervision and lacks an appropriate alternative child care arrangement.
