SAFE-LINK Domestic Violence DIVISION

The SAFE-LINK Domestic Violence Assistance Program was created by Linda Priest, Clerk of Superior Court as a "one-stop" location for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking who come to the Cumberland County court system to obtain a civil domestic violence protective/restraining order or a civil no-contact protective order. The program is designed to provide immediate access to our court system to ensure the safety of these victims.

In the SAFE-LINK Office, victims have privacy to complete required forms, obtain information about available resources such as community-based programs and shelters, and referrals to immediate services and counselors.  Bi-Lingual services are provided and documentation of physical abuse through digital photography is available.

SAFE-LINK staff specializing in domestic violence issues coordinates hearings with the District Court Judge, provides continuity for victims with the Care Center and Legal Aide, streamlines communication with the District Attorney’s Office on criminal cases, expedites service with law enforcement, and notifies the military when active duty personnel are involved.

SAFE-LINK staff provides emergency 911 Cellular Telephones to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking

SAFE-LINK Office staff are prohibited by law from providing legal assistance with preparing the forms required to obtain a Domestic Violence Order.

For assistance, the CARE Center has a trained paralegal that can provide legal assistance and information concerning the various legal options available and provides referrals to attorneys when applicable.  They also provide Advocacy services to come with you to court and assist with the court process. Their phone number and address is provided under Service Agencies.
